The fisherman

An ode to both my roots, my fishermen communities. It holds so much more meaning than to me.

I grew up surrounded by my father’s love of fishing. It was his thing. Meanwhile my mom always loved the water. It was her thing. We were surrounded by water all the time.

In Tunisia, saltwater people fish all the time. It’s their thing, whether it’s for work or leisure. Tunisia’s fish is our beautiful turquoise water, known for its fruitful harvests.

I wanted to build my own fisherwoman, who were known to be surrounded by golden water, filled with pearls. On our national coin, a boat is on it, honoring its fishing culture.

There are many aspects of fishing that I love, it’s all about patience but it’s intimate, you have time to reflect with yourself, with others and nature. Fishermen are a true epitome of resilience and go-getters.

During the process of creating, all of our fabrics honor my fishermen communities, lots of fish, mussels, fishing rods, reflective shapes and cuts.

To know something is to honor it.

Yours truly,
